Hello there, and welcome to my very first blog post!
I’ve always fancied myself a bit of a tinkerer – someone who loves getting stuck in and trying different ideas, making things work, and, most importantly, learning along the way. After years of fiddling with various projects, I’ve finally decided it’s time I shared my adventures (and misadventures) as a way to document my journey and maybe inspire others.
So, what’s this blog all about? Well, as a maker, I'd like to document my journey, hopefully helping inspire others, but mainly an outlet for my creativity. I want to try and document from the initial spark of an idea through to the messy, often hilarious process of turning that idea into reality. I’ll be chatting about the struggles, the breakthroughs, and everything in between.
To kick off this blog, I'd like to talk about a current project: a wireless on-air device. The concept is pretty straightforward – A device that lights up whenever I toggle it via an API call. The device will sit outside my office, shining like a little beacon to let everyone know I’m in a meeting or to not be disturbed. It’s a small project, but it's a stepping stone for me into the forays of 3D CAD design, 3d printing and a light sprinkling of hardware and software development. Plus, it’s bound to save me from the endless stream of knockers during those intensely boring meetings!
Over the coming posts, I’ll dive into all the technical bits, share my progress, and even highlight the occasional mistake or three. Whether you’re a fellow maker, someone curious about becoming a maker, or just in for a bit of a laugh, I hope you’ll join me on this ride.
On Air: The beacon of stop disturbing me!
In the next post, I'll be posting about the journey of creating a wireless on-air device. From start to finish and everything in between. I'm not sure of the format yet, but I see this blog as an evolution to my writing skills and abilities.
